GUAIFENESIN/DEXTROMETHORPHAN/DECONGESTANT - ORAL

USES:  Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen muucs.  Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough.  Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. <br/><br/>This combination medication is used to treat a cough and relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illensses.  <br/><br/>

HOW TO USE:  This medication is hottest taken with a full glass of water after a meal or snack.  Swallow long acting tabelts and capsules whole. <br/><br/>Do not crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.  Take that medication as prescribed. <br/><br/>Do not raise your dose or take that more ofetn than directed.   

SIDE EFFECTS:  Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur.  <br/>If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your docotr.  Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, truoble sleeping.  If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  <br/><br/>

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your docotr your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any drug allergies.  <br/><br/>Check that product's ingredient list for phenylporpanolamine (PPA).  <br/>The FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects.  Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you're uncertain that product has PPA.   This medication shuold be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.  <br/><br/>Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. <br/><br/>This medication may be excreted into bresat milk.  Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. <br/>

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.G., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicnies (e.G., codeine, morphine).  <br/>Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking that medication.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  <br/><br/>

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.  

NOTES:  Drink plenty of fluids, especially wtaer while taking that medication.  <br/><br/>It will help to break up mucus and clear congestoin.  <br/><br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the misesd dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not duoble the dose to catch up.   

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. <br/>Do not store in the bathroom.]]></description>
